The “Asianwave Intimate Concert Series” will launch during the first full season at the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts on September 14th. This concert series presents a unique way for fans to interact with their favourite artist in an intimate way. The nature of these four concerts is very different compared to a typical pop concert. They focus on showcasing the singing of four very talented singers: Jason Chan, Ivana Wong, Shirley Kwan and Eric Suen. The award-winning architecture firm Diamond and Schmidt designed the state of the art auditorium which boasts one of the best acoustic spaces in the GTA. Many of you have probably been to a concert but few of you have heard singing in such a wonderful acoustical environment. With only 631 seats, the RHC has ideal sightlines and the design of the theatre will literally bring the star closer to you. The experience will truly be a close encounter and an intimate experience with the artiste and their music.

Market Village, in the heart of Markham’s shopping district, is soon to receive a major makeover. Its existing 325,000 square feet retail space will be knocked down in a few years from now. Out of Market Village will rise the 800,000 square feet Remington Centre – an Asian-themed mall with a 20-storey residential condo tower. Kohn Architects have designed the Remington Centre to be essentially an Asian-Canadian Times Square – a large outdoor plaza and featured water fountains will be integral parts of the project.

Summer’s finally here and all too soon it will end so make an effort to go out and enjoy the warmth and sunshine with your family and friends. Take advantage of the outdoor events happening in your community; summer’s a time for festivals and you can find one almost every weekend! But, after enjoying a long day out, you really don’t feel like slaving over a hot stove for hours cooking the same old dish of fried chicken and mashed potatoes. It is greasy and heavy; not fit for summer fair!

The meaning of success is so often coloured by our personal biases. What is “success”? One might expect a conservative answer from someone like Benny Cheung who is a business owner and the President of the Toronto Chinese Business Association. With a lifetime of accomplishments to cite, Benny instead gave a very humble response that truly reflects her generous nature, “I wouldn’t say that I’m so successful – it’s just that I’m continuing to work towards achieving my goals!”
